Being There

ACCOMMODATION
We have reserved a room for you at the Raasay House for our wedding week
from Monday, September 26 through Monday, October 3, 2022
MEALS & COSTS
The rooms at the Raasay House are on us, so you just need to cover non-wedding day foods and activities. Breakfast is included in with the room as well. The remaining meals you will be able to order yourself. Check out the blog post on meals for more details. There is a small store on Raasay, but the Raasay House is the only restaurant on the island.
There are many pubs in Portree and other towns on Skye which you can enjoy when you are out and about.
TIMING CONSIDERATION
Getting There

Currently, the last ferry from Skye to Raasay, leaves Sconser at 6:30 pm. SO... you need to be in line by 6:15 pm to ensure you either get on the ferry or, if it's full, they come back for you.
AIRPORTS
Inverness - is the closest to Syke and Raasay, about a two and half hour drive away, and is best reached by transferring from Heathrow or Amsterdam.
Direct flights to Edinburgh or Glasgow are also options; you would probably need to allow an extra day to get to Sconser before the last ferry.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION
Theme: Get close and we'll come get you!
Depending on where you arrive in the UK, there are many options to get from there to Raasay. Trains, rent a car, carpool and a chartered minibus are all options. We already have a couple of folks renting cars who are able and eager to carry an extra passenger or two. If there are enough folks flying in, we can charter a minibus. Let us know if you are able to pick up a passenger or if you are in need of a ride.
Trains -
From Edinburgh - If you come in by Sunday, you have two options, (1) Edinburgh to Inverness to Kyle of Lockalsh, (2) Edinburgh to Glasgow to Mallaig (probably the prettier route) then the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. We can pick you up in either Armadale or Kyle of Lockalsh.
From Glasgow - Glasgow to Mallaig then the ferry to Armadale; you'd fly in Sunday then take the train to Mallaig on Monday morning.
From Inverness - Inverness to Kyle of Lockalsh; fly in Sunday then take the train to Mallaig Monday morning.
Pro Tip: According to our Brits on the ground, don't book train tickets more than three months out as the schedules change regularly.
